The last day of the year, December 31st – the perfect day to look back on the year that was and look ahead to what lies ahead in the next year.
For me, it’s the perfect day to be born. The perfect tax deduction – little to no expense, yet a deduction for the the full year – LOL. It’s the day I was born because, as I always say, the world celebrates with fireworks around the globe.
As I reflect on 2025, it has truly been an amazing year and so it should be because 25 is definitely my favourite number. Why? I’m so glad you asked (even if you didn’t):
- I graduated from Bible College on April 25th (1985).
- Cathy & I decided to get engaged on June 25th (1986).
- Cathy is 25 months older than I am.
- We were married on October 25th (1986).
- 25 months later on November 25th, our first child was born, then dedicated to the Lord on Dec. 25th (1988).
- Our second child was born when I was 25 years old (1990).
- Major life crisis happened when I was 25 – loss of job, beginning of career change (quarter life crisis).
- Our third child was born on January 25th (1993).
- When I was 50, I had another career shift that led into my current role. Incidentally, I had just entered into my 25th year as a financial planner when I made this significant transition.
- In 2019, we had a granddaughter born on December 25th. Before that time, we had always celebrated the birth of Christ on Dec. 25th.
What will be Celebrated in 2025!
The last day of a year, it’s good to look back and be thankful. 2025 marked the 10th year in my role working with Christian financial professionals in Canada. This year was a significant year in so many ways.
Kingdom Advisors Canada added 22 brand new members in 2025 and 11 new CKA®’s (Certified Kingdom Advisors®). We added two new Study Groups in Canada and established a new group in the UK. I walked through the KA Core Training in 2025 with advisors from Canada, the UK and South Africa, meeting weekly for 20 weeks. This culminated with two Kingdom Advisors travelling to South Africa for the Advisors for the Nations Conference at the end of September. Now there are Study Groups being established in South Africa.

I’m so grateful to get to participate in this work – to hear the feedback from an advisor that going through the KA training in 2025 “changed my DNA” assures me that I’m living in the purpose that God has for me.
The Christian financial industry in Canada is being developed and this became evident in 2025! Here are three quick highlights:
Redeemer University will be the first university in Canada to offer the CKA® designation. If you missed the conversation about the latest development to bring the Certified Kingdom Advisor® designation to a university in Canada, you can message me. Hear from Ron Blue Institute how this will change the CKA® program in Canada and also about a major donor to Redeemer University supporting this initiative. You can support this effort with your donation here. **Every donation will be tripled up to $250,000 with donor matching.
Capstone Asset Management launched the first faith-based funds in Canada. One month later, another of KA Canada’s partners, ROCKLINC Investment Partners launched the ROCKLINC Principled Equity ETF. Now here’s Proverbs 4:25 – “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.”
Here’s to another fantastic year as we now begin to fix our eyes on what lies ahead in 2026!
Happy birthday Lorne! And congratulations on your effective work. I’d love to hear more about these:
